Be okay with making mistakes. We don’t always speak our native languages perfectly, so we are absolutely going to make mistakes in a new one. We have to learn to accept that we can’t get everything the right the first time. Or second, third, or fourth, most likely.
Be okay with looking foolish. Imagine learning to ice skate. We look kinda silly. Same with language. We may end up doing a lot of gesturing and pantomime, which can be quite ridiculous. Embrace it, go with it, and just keep going.
Find a method that works. We can’t all do everything the same way; our brains are different. Some of us need visuals, some need audio, some need to write everything. They are all valid.
